Nintendo ascribe the design of the Game Boy Tribal to the wrong author |

In 01 june 2004, the Nintendo of Europe newletter ascribe the design of the new Game Boy Tribal Edition to the master tattoo artist Mister Cartoon. The truth is that Leo Burnett Milano, the agency engaged by Nintendo to make the concept and advertising of the product, entrusted the design to the italian artist Germano Giovanni (Jerry) Magni, as proved by contracts with Nintendo and Leo. Jerry contacted Leo Burnett Milano immediately to be sure that Nintendo does not made the same mistake another once, besides, Jerry sent an email to Mister Cartoon to know his point of view about that. Unfortunately, two days after, in the intro to the Game Boy Tribal site, the artwork appears as «Designed by the master tattoo artist Mister Cartoon». Some day after Jerry received Mister Cartoon reply, a proof that Mister Cartoon was not the real author of the GBTE design and Nintendo was wrong. Jerry can't hide is pride to know that the great U.S. tattooist ( Eminem and other U.S. stars) likes his artwork but was disapopointed about Nintendo mistake. So he continued to ask for an errata corrige to Nintendo. In spite of all, he had to wait the 17 june before Nintendo modified the wrong web-page but they cut off the wrong text without to make clear who was the real designer. So, Jerry decided to make it by himself because he sold every commercial rights to Nintendo but, for the Italian copyright law, under the contract was made, the artwork's paternity right is inalienable. 21-06-2004 - Jerry Magni |
